The "rotating volute" means that you can rotate the water connection on the pump around so it lines up with the water connection on your hot tub, while still keeping the flat base facing down.

Much more ruggedly built that my e5 Laing pump. About 3 times the cfm. The e5 is only 4.16 gpm and this grundfos is 12+ gpm much more resilient to keeping good flow through the heater even when filters get slightly dirty

I have a 2003 Sundance Tango hot tub (2 seater) that recently showed an FL1 error code. With Spa Guy's great tech support the problem was diagnosed as a faulty circulation pump. Upon installing their new Grundfos circ pump (with their online video, it gives pretty detailed instructions on how to convert a Laing circ pump over (caution, you need to understand simple electrical wiring, such as hot, neutral and ground wires connections). Even if you don't have that comfort level, at a minimum Spa Guy's will help you figure out your problem and it's far better to buy the superior Grundfos pump (German made) from Hot Tub Parts of America and hire the work done as the normal spa tech will want to install another piece of crap like another Laing circulation pump. Their price mark up is significant on those and they will encourage you to purchase another (I had one changed out in 2012 at a cost of $215 and it fried in 4 yrs.). NOTE: I also recently changed out my flow switch (as per my Owner's Manual....pretty simple to do), but no one tells you to make sure the "arrow" on the flow switch must actually be screwed in (unless it's already part of the "T" assembly and done for you, at least for my model) and facing the direction of the water circulation flow....just follow the arrows! Thank god for the Spa Guy's support, as my pictures to them helped solve that problem....duh! Good luck and hope this review helps.....I trust these guys.
